WASHINGTON, DC –Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, praised the passage in the House of Representatives of a sanctions package targeting Russia, North Korea, and Iran. The sanctions are designed to punish Iran and North Korea for their ballistic missile activity, and Russia for its actions in Syria and for its interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield), a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, voted in favor of H.R.2810, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018. This annual bill provides the authority and direction for the United States armed forces. It passed by a bipartisan 344-81 vote.

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), who represents the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, spoke on the House floor to oppose H.R. 23, which would override California water law and allow nearly unregulated pumping of water from the Delta, threatening the local economy, water quality, and wildlife. Unfortunately, the bill passed by a 230-190 vote.

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, along with a bipartisan coalition in Congress, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Davis, Fairfield, Yuba City) applauded Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin for reversing his plan to cut crucial unemployment benefits for disabled veterans. Last month, Congressman Garamendi joined over 60 of his colleagues in writing a letter to Secretary Shulkin imploring him to reconsider his proposed cuts to the Individual Unemployment (IU) benefits for retired-age veterans, which over 225,000 veterans rely upon nationwide.
