WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City), who represents a district with an annual farm gate value of over $4.4 billion, applauded passage today of a bipartisan farm bill that supports California's rural communities, farmers, and agricultural research while avoiding cuts to nutrition assistance (SNAP) for needy families and low-income women with newborn children (WIC).

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi, a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, sent a bipartisan letter to the White House, co-signed by 38 other members of California's House delegation, requesting that the President waive any requirement that the State of California or local governments match federal disaster relief with state or local funds for recent wildfires in California.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi, the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, praised the passage in the House of Representatives of S. 140, the Coast Guard Reauthorization Amendment for Fiscal Year 2019. In addition to funding Coast Guard operations and maintenance at $700 million above Fiscal Year 2018 levels, the legislation accomplishes a number of key priorities that Garamendi has long fought for, including funding for oceangoing heavy icebreakers and a backup system for GPS.

The grant is from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development program, and is the single largest award in the program's history.

FAIRFIELD, CA – Today, Congressman John Garamendi, a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and a member of the Congressional "Make It In America" Task Force, commemorated national Manufacturing Day by touring local manufacturers throughout the Third Congressional District. To start the day, Garamendi kicked off a forum for his Manufacturing Advisory Board, where he was joined by representatives from the United Steelworkers and the Alliance for American Manufacturing.
