WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, voted to pass the "Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act" (H.R.3684)—a comprehensive surface transportation bill that would modernize our nation's roads, bridges, transit, rail, drinking water systems, and make our infrastructure more resilient to climate change.

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, introduced the "Investing in Commonsense Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) Act of 2021." This legislation would pause the development of the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program until 2031 and extend the service life of the Minuteman III missiles to 2040 that the GBSD program is intended to replace.

YOLO COUNTY, CA—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) announced that the United States Department of Transportation has awarded an $85.9 million Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) Grant to the Yolo County Transportation District and the California Department of Transportation's (Caltrans) District 3 application to improve and expand 17 miles of the Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 50 corridors in Yolo and Sacramento Counties.

FAIRFIELD — Solano County-specific projects would receive $20 million in federal funding if a bill that passed the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee makes its way through the full House, the Senate and the White House.

FAIRFIELD — Armijo High student Fayola Fayusi was the grand prize winner in the annual Congressional High School Art Competition in the 3rd District.

Fayusi was recognized for her piece, "Heroes Like Me," and was one of 23 students recognized by Rep. John Garamendi, D-Walnut Grove.

"Every year, I'm always amazed by the incredible talent and quality of art we receive for the Congressional High School Art Competition," Garamendi said in a statement released by his office. "Congratulations to Fayola Fayusi, Alexandra Gionco and all of our county winners."

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, voted to pass H.R. 256—to repeal the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) Against Iraq Resolution of 2002. The legislation passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a bipartisan vote of 265 to 162 and heads to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, voted to pass the "Water Quality Protection and Job Creation Act of 2021" (H.R.1915) in the Committee. This legislation reauthorizes the Clean Water Act's State Revolving Funds and related U.S. EPA water programs. The legislation passed the Committee on a bipartisan vote of 42 to 25 and is expected to be passed by the U.S.
