"LAVTA is purchasing buses made in Northern California, putting our neighbors to work and allowing more money to flow through our local economy. We must Make It In America if we’re going to make it in America, and American-made buses are precisely the types of investments we need to get out of our economic slump," Garamendi added. "Rapid bus transit also makes bus travel faster and more reliable – a critical step to get residents out of their cars and into public transit."

"Today I fought to save the Patients’ Bill of Rights and protect patients and consumers from the greed of insurance companies. Unfortunately, the House Republican majority voted to set up a vote next week that will force seniors to pay thousands of dollars out-of-pocket for prescription drugs, to allow insurance companies to kick you off your insurance when you get sick, and to deprive you of needed preventative screenings recommended by your doctor," said Congressman Garamendi, a former health care advisor to President Bill Clinton.

"The potential solar energy zones identified by the Administration today provide America with an opportunity to tackle the most pressing challenges of our time," Congressman Garamendi said. "We can create quality American jobs manufacturing solar panels if we Make It In America – ending our addiction to foreign oil, bolstering national security, and making American manufacturers more competitive in the global Clean Energy Race that will determine the winners and losers of the 21st century."

"On the battlefield, it doesn’t matter who you love; it matters what country you love. Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is wrong. Period," Congressman Garamendi said. "Anyone brave enough to wear the uniform in defense of our country should not be forced to live a lie. Thousands of gay and lesbian soldiers who have served our country honorably have been needlessly discharged because of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, including many in demand linguists and intelligence officers. This discriminatory policy must stop, and it must stop now."
