Fairfield, California—Today Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), who represents Travis Air Force Base in Congress, sent a letter to President Trump, Vice President Pence, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield and others demanding immediate action to remedy significant health and safety hazards at the Travis Air Force Base that Garamendi's constituents brought to his attention


February 6, 2020

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Garamendi voted in favor of H. Res. 826, a resolution expressing disapproval of the Trump Administration's harmful actions toward Medicaid. Last week, the Trump Administration unveiled its illegal Medicaid block grant plan, inviting states to cap and slash Medicaid. The plan would essentially allow states to receive a waiver to block grant their Medicaid programs for certain low-income Medicaid recipients.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to support workers, farmers, ranchers, and manufacturing in the United States. The bipartisan bill passed the House by a vote of 385-41 and is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by the President.


December 17, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted for two bipartisan appropriations bills to fund the federal government through the 2020 fiscal year. The $1.4 trillion spending deal funds nearly aspect of the federal government and includes $25 million in long-sought funding for critical research into gun violence at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health. The legislation is expected to be signed into law later this week.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted to pass H.R.3, the Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act, which will bring down the cost of prescription drugs and level the playing field for American patients. The legislation passed the House by a vote of 230-192. This bill finally gives Medicare the power to negotiate directly with drug companies for lower and more transparent prices for both Medicare patients and Americans with private insurance.
