Garamendi Delivers Keynote Address at Alzheimer’s Education and Empowerment Event in Fairfield
Fairfield, CA—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), delivered the keynote address at the Alzheimer’s Disease Education and Empowerment-Early Detection Matters event in Solano County to discuss advancements in Alzheimer’s research.
“Sadly, over 650,000 Californians and 21,000 Solano County residents are living with Alzheimer's today. I know what it’s like to care for a loved one with Alzheimer's, and the incredible toll it takes on individuals and their families. It’s imperative that we provide the necessary support to find a cure and support those living with Alzheimer's. As a member of the Bipartisan Congressional Task Force on Alzheimer's Disease, I've introduced and supported efforts to provide much-needed research into this disease. That includes supporting a $350 million increase in National Institute of Health (NIH) funding for Alzheimer's research, and $13.4 million for the Alzheimer's Disease Supportive Services Program,” Garamendi said.
“It’s an honor to address this gathering today—and I’m incredibly grateful to the local advocates and service providers who are working together to support those impacted by Alzheimer’s and fighting to find a cure for this disease once-and-for-all,” Garamendi concluded.
