Congressman Garamendi Hosts District Work Day in Lake and Colusa Counties

California’s 3rd Congressional District—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D—Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA) spent the day meeting with constituents in Lake and Colusa counties:

“The highest honor in my life is the opportunity to serve the people of California’s 3rd Congressional District,” Garamendi said. “Every member of Congress should strive to be as accessible as possible to their constituents, and welcome a wide variety of knowledge and opinions that will help them better represent their constituents in Washington. I want to thank everyone in Lake in Colusa counties that showed up today and made their voice heard.”

An overview of Congressman Garamendi’s day is listed below:

  • 7:00-8:30 am: Remarks at Lake County Judge’s Breakfast
    • Congressman Garamendi addressed a full house at the Lake County Judge’s Breakfast to discuss his efforts to address the algae problem in Clearlake, as well as the bipartisan work he is doing to protect and expand upon Social Security and strengthen public education.
       
  • 8:30-9:30 am: Meeting with Lake County Supervisors
    • Garamendi met with Lake County Supervisors Jeff Smith and Jim Steele to discuss the ways they can work together to deliver for Lake County communities.
       
  • 10:00-11:00 am: Meeting with Clearlake City Officials
    • Congressman Garamendi met with Greg Folsom, Clearlake City Manager, Doug Meyers, Clearlake Fire Chief, and Bruno Sabatier, Clearlake Mayor, to discuss the ongoing disaster recovery efforts related to the Sulphur Fire. Garamendi discussed the work he did with a bipartisan coalition in Congress to provide additional resources for fire safety in the 2018 Omnibus bill that was recently signed into law. Specifically, the Omnibus creates a separate fund for emergency firefighting and eliminates the practice of dipping into fire prevention funds to fund fire suppression.
       
  • 11:15 am-12:15 pm: Visit at the Clearlake VA Community Outpatient Clinic (CBOC)
    • Congressman Garamendi formally recognized the critical work of the Clearlake VA CBOC by honoring them with a Congressional Proclamation recognizing their distinguished service to local veterans.
       
  • 1:30-3:00 pm: Town Hall in Clearlake Oaks
    • Congressman Garamendi held a town hall to a packed house at the Live Oak Senior Center to discuss the needs and interests of the local community.
       
  • 4:00-5:30 pm: Meeting to Discuss Sites Reservoir
    • Congressman Garamendi met with constituents in Maxwell to discuss the Sites Reservoir project. Garamendi is a strong supporter of Sites Reservoir, and helped fight to include $4.3 million in federal funding for Sites Reservoir in the Omnibus bill that was recently signed into law.  
       
  • 6:00-7:30 pm: Town Hall in Colusa County
    • Congressman Garamendi hosted a town hall in Williams to discuss the needs and interest of the community. He discussed his support for local farmers and ranchers, and the work he is doing to protect Social Security and Medicare from cuts.
