December 9, 2020

Washington, DC—Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-03), Co-Chair of the American Sikh Caucus, along with Congressman Jim Costa (D-CA-16) and Congresswoman Shelia Jackson Lee (D-TX-18)—members of the American Sikh Caucus—sent a letter to Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Ambassador of India to the United States, regarding India's recent crackdown on protestors surrounding the nation's recent passage of agricultural reform bills. Congressman Garamendi and his colleagues expressed their solidarity with the protestors and defended their right to peacefully protest these new laws.

Yuba County, CA—Today Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, hosted a Congressional Delegation comprised of other key members of the House Armed Services Committee to tour Beale Air Force Base in Yuba County. Garamendi then met with the Yuba-Sutter Habitat for Humanity to discuss their ongoing projects and how he can support their work through his efforts in Congress.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) applauded House passage of his legislation, H.R. 550, which was amended to include Representative Barbara Lee's (D-CA) legislation to repeal the 2002 Iraq War Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) and Representative Ro Khanna's (D-CA) legislation to prohibit the use of military force against Iran without an AUMF. The legislation passed by a vote of 236-166.


December 17, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted for two bipartisan appropriations bills to fund the federal government through the 2020 fiscal year. The $1.4 trillion spending deal funds nearly aspect of the federal government and includes $25 million in long-sought funding for critical research into gun violence at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health. The legislation is expected to be signed into law later this week.
