Congressman Garamendi votes against a controversial farm bill that would destroy a longstanding and successful coalition of farm, food, and environmental programs.

Garamendi fought for Northern California flood protection during debate over the House energy and water bill.

“I have voted multiple times to end sequestration. Today I once again call on Congress to put partisanship aside to stop these counterproductive unfocused cuts."

Deadly flooding, super storms, and droughts are just a few of the dire consequences that climate change is bringing to America and the rest of the world. UC Davis is conducting vitally important research to rise to the challenge of climate change by studying its effect on agriculture and our water system, and what we can do about it. Dr. Sperling at their Institute of Transportation Studies has produced monumental work in clean transportation, hydrogen fuel infrastructure, and research on how we can achieve a 100% renewable energy economy.

"We need a new Farm Bill. While today’s vote was a step back in that process, I will continue to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to produce a Farm Bill that would strengthen our agricultural economy, combat hunger, and be signed into law"

The current peripheral tunnel proposal could devastate the Sacramento Delta region without adding a single drop to our state’s water supply. We must change course. I have outlined an alternative approach.

The Congressman spoke on the House floor to highlight a program created by EDF Renewable Energy at Rio Vista High School for job training in the wind energy, solar power, and hydrogen fuel cells industry.

"It’s time for a midstream correction to the BDCP: let’s bring everyone to the table and develop a water plan that meets the needs of all Californians," said Rep. John Garamendi.
