Garamendi Happy to Announce Yuba County Receiving $1.8 Million Federal Grant to Update Wastewater System and Create 150 Jobs
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) today is happy to announce that the Yuba County Airport Industrial Park will receive a $1,790,232 grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to upgrade their wastewater collection system to increase its capacity and support expansion of the Yuba County airport industrial park. This project will help grow Yuba County’s manufacturing capacity, including the establishment of the only nitrite, non-latex glove manufacturing facility in the country. The EDA grant is expected to leverage $50 million in private investment and create 150 jobs.
“Since the first day I entered Congress, I have been a leading advocate for Make It In America policies that can help grow America’s manufacturing capacity. This wastewater collection system upgrade is exactly the type of project we need to create jobs and make our economy more resilient,” Congressman Garamendi said.
Garamendi added, “Yuba County has suffered from an unemployment rate higher than the state average, largely because it lacks sufficient infrastructure to build a thriving manufacturing sector. Thanks to this $1.8 million grant, we can reverse that trend and bring good jobs to the region. I’m enthusiastic for the many families whose lives will soon get a lot better thanks to this grant from the Economic Development Administration. Smart government is smart business.”
