The Congressman spoke on the House floor to highlight a program created by EDF Renewable Energy at Rio Vista High School for job training in the wind energy, solar power, and hydrogen fuel cells industry.

"It’s time for a midstream correction to the BDCP: let’s bring everyone to the table and develop a water plan that meets the needs of all Californians," said Rep. John Garamendi.

If the Midwest is America’s breadbasket, California is America’s garden basket, home to the world’s largest variety of rice, fruits, vegetables, and nuts.

The good news is that this nation, the strongest economic nation in the world, can solve the climate change problem or at least lead, and in doing so we can put people back to work.

For decades, UC Davis, a historic land-grant university, has developed cutting-edge farm practices, research, and local partnerships.

Ending preventable flight delays is good, but Congress also needs to prevent the draconian cuts to our nation’s defense, research, Head Start, and children’s health care that are already causing alarm among families in my district.

"As currently designed, the BDCP is really a Bay Delta Destruction Plan that takes taxpayers for a ride, leaves behind a mess, and transfers water from the North to the South. As an alternative, I have outlined a comprehensive water plan to meet the needs of all California residents."

The Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area Act would establish the Delta as a National Heritage Area and would protect and promote the history, resources, and economy of the community.
