WOODLAND, CA – Today, hundreds of jobseekers from the Delta and Sacramento Valley attended a job fair in Woodland hosted by the Office of Congressman John Garamendi. Over 80 regional employers currently hiring participated in the job fair, with well over 500 jobs available for participants to apply for.

On Friday, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) was proud to announce the winners of this year’s Congressional High School Art Competition in the 3rd District at the Pence Gallery in Davis. His office received more than 60 pieces this year - a new record for the 3rd District.

All high school students residing in California’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes all or portions of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties, are invited to submit their original artwork. The deadline to submit artwork is April 24, 2015 at 5PM.

The Congressman held a series of meetings and site visits in Lake County. The meetings focused on Lake County’s unique water needs, the value of nonprofits in the community, and issues of importance to seniors, students, and educators.

“Many of our brave troops have experienced brain trauma and developed mental health illnesses while serving our nation on the battlefield. This has become a major public health crisis leading to homelessness, domestic problems, substance abuse, and suicide. We need to do everything we can to make our veterans whole again when they come home. Central to this effort must be a sustained focus on suicide prevention. I’m proud to support the SAV Act, which constitutes a significant step toward addressing this problem.”
