Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), who served as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Interior Department under President Clinton, and Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-Westchester/Rockland, NY), the Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, today responded to the announcement by urging immediate federal action to keep communities safer in the transportation of Bakken crude oil-by-rail.

Congressman John Garamendi, D-Solano, is hosting an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. June 5 at his Davis District Office, 412 G St., Davis.All community members are invited to attend and meet with the congressman and his staff. Many pieces from this year's Congressional High School Art Competition will also be on display. Light refreshments will be provided.

No representative of the Bay Delta region was given the opportunity to participate in the development of this legislation. Therefore, it is a safe bet that this lengthy and complex legislation will have negative effects on the Delta. As I have said many times, I am more than willing to work with anyone who wants to achieve a true bipartisan solution to California and Western water problems.

WOODLAND, CA – Today, hundreds of jobseekers from the Delta and Sacramento Valley attended a job fair in Woodland hosted by the Office of Congressman John Garamendi. Over 80 regional employers currently hiring participated in the job fair, with well over 500 jobs available for participants to apply for.
