Washington, D.C. – In their ongoing work to improve access to safe and reliable water, Congressmen Jim Costa (D-CA-16), Jeff Denham (R-CA-10), John Garamendi (D-CA-3), and Tom McClintock (R-CA-4) introduced H.R 5726, the Non-Federal Reservoir Operations Improvement Act, in the House of Representatives today. If enacted, the bipartisan legislation would resolve a technicality that impedes structural and operational improvements of water reservoirs and prevents reservoirs from functioning as efficiently as possible.

This past Friday, April 20, more than 50 students from Davis and Da Vinci High Schools staged a walkout and marched to my office to protest the threat of gun violence and the refusal by Congress to take any action to make our schools safer.

Davis, CA – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Davis, Fairfield, Yuba City, CA), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, honored the achievements of ten students throughout the Third Congressional District who secured a nomination to a service academy. The candidates were selected by an independent panel of distinguished veterans and educators after an exhaustive interview and application process. The ceremony was hosted at the Veterans Memorial Theater in Davis.

Davis, CA – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Davis, Fairfield, Yuba City, CA) hosted his annual Congressional High School Art Competition, featuring the works of 113 students throughout the 3rd Congressional District. The event, held at the Pence Gallery in Davis, celebrated the remarkable talents of young artists in our region and the teachers, parents, and mentors who encourage them. The 113 pieces submitted set a new record for Congressman Garamendi's district, making this year's contest the most competitive yet.

Fairfield-The Capitol Corridor train arriving at the Fairfield-Vacaville Train Station was too good a photo op to pass up.

Solano County Supervisor Jim Spering was speaking, but graciously allowed the cluster of dignitaries to gather so their staff could take pictures of them with the passengers getting off the train in the background.

Congressman John Garamendi's Legislation, H.R. 5326, the Maritime Technical Corrections Act of 2018, Passes Unanimously out of Transportation and Infrastructure Committee


WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), Ranking Member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation, applauded the passage of H.R. 5326, the Maritime Technical Corrections Act, through the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. The bill passed on a unanimous voice vote.

Nearly two years since ground was broken on a Habitat for Humanity project slated to house six homeless veterans in Dixon, state, city and community leaders came together to celebrate moving the project forward.

"It's exciting," said Congressman John Garamendi, D-Solano, Thursday morning. "Housing is a constant problem for veterans, homeless veterans. They need housing. And I'm excited about Habitat's concept of shared housing."

It's the organization's first shared housing venture, advised Gerry Raycraft, president of Solano-Napa Habitat for Humanity.
