WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative John Garamendi (D-CA08), a senior member of the House Committees on Armed Services and Transportation and Infrastructure, issued the following statement after U.S. Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai announced a full investigation into the People’s Republic of China’s unfair shipbuilding and maritime trade practices.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representative John Garamendi (D-CA08) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded a $20 million grant to begin rebuilding State Highway 37 to prevent coastal flooding in Solano, Napa, and Sonoma Counties. The federal grant awarded today is in response to a letter of support from Representatives Garamendi and Mike Thompson (D-CA04) sent in August 2023.

“I am outraged by the killing of seven humanitarian aid workers from World Central Kitchen, including an American citizen, in Gaza. I extend my deepest condolences to their families and loved ones as they grieve this unthinkable loss.

“As famine looms in Gaza, with much of the population already starving, it is more important than ever to protect humanitarian aid workers who do critical work. Israel must stop their campaign of violence and intimidation toward these workers.
