Dixon & Yuba City, CA—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) hosted a Senior Service Roundtable and Manufacturing Advisory Meeting in his district to deliver an update on the state of affairs in Washington and engage with his constituents on a wide array of topics. In Dixon, Garamendi convened elected officials and members of his Manufacturing Advisory Committee at Altec's facility to discuss the local manufacturing sector.

January 29, 2020

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, applauded the House Democratic Caucus' introduction of its "Moving Forward" infrastructure plan to create 10 million new jobs in America by investing $760 billion over five years. As a senior member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Garamendi will help shape this plan into legislation and strongly advocate for its adoption by the full House.


December 19, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted to pass the Restoring Tax Fairness for States and Localities Act (H.R. 5377), which passed the House by a vote of 218-206. The legislation would eliminate the $10,000 cap on the State and Local Tax Deduction (SALT) that was implemented in the 2017 Republican tax law and has disproportionately harmed California.


December 19, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) to support workers, farmers, ranchers, and manufacturing in the United States. The bipartisan bill passed the House by a vote of 385-41 and is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by the President.


December 17, 2019

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted for two bipartisan appropriations bills to fund the federal government through the 2020 fiscal year. The $1.4 trillion spending deal funds nearly aspect of the federal government and includes $25 million in long-sought funding for critical research into gun violence at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the National Institutes of Health. The legislation is expected to be signed into law later this week.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) voted in favor of the bipartisan Farm Workforce Modernization Act (H.R. 5038) which passed the House by a vote of 260-165. The bipartisan legislation was introduced by Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), and Garamendi is a cosponsor.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) joined a bipartisan group of Representatives in cosponsoring the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, which was introduced today by Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (D-CA).

The Farm Workforce Modernization Act, which was negotiated over several months with input from agricultural stakeholders and labor organizations, makes meaningful reforms to the H-2A agricultural guestworker program and creates a first-of-its-kind, merit-based visa program specifically designed for the nation's agricultural sector.

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA.) and U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS.) reintroduced the "Energizing American Shipbuilding Act" (H.R.3829). This bipartisan legislation seeks to recapitalize America's strategic domestic shipbuilding and maritime industries by requiring that increasing percentages of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and crude oil exports be transported on U.S.-built, flagged, and crewed vessels.

The bipartisan legislation authorizes the United States Coast Guard – our nation's fifth military service branch – for fiscal years 2020 and 2021.
