Reflecting the continued struggles of far too many Americans in search of work, the Solano County Job Fair and Jobs Boot Camp hosted today by Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) was exceedingly well-attended. 971 jobseekers, including 146 veterans, talked with more than 50 employers, labor unions, and job skills organizations and two dozen resume counselors.

State admits a $3 Billion error in their analysis but continues to ignore comprehensive plans that would actually address California’s water needs. Garamendi has offered an updated version of his "Water Plan for All of California"

This bill is critical for California. WRDA authorizes both flood protection projects that save lives and property and needed improvements for our ports and waterways. The bill, H.R. 3315, exempts agricultural structures like barns, sheds and silos from FEMA requirements that effectively prohibit construction in areas designated as floodplains. These regulations, which apply to new construction and rehabilitation of existing buildings, require structures to be raised above any potential flood lines –a requirement that is too costly and impractical for large structures like equipment sheds and rice dryers.
