In 2013, Garamendi wrote a letter to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in support of ICON Aircraft’s proposed facility, which is now becoming a reality. The consumer sport plane manufacturer is planning on generating well over 400 new manufacturing and sales jobs in the region.

California Chrome is a resident of Yuba City, where he lives with his human friends Perry and Denise Martin. The Martins bought California Chrome’s mother for only $8,000, a bargain by horse racing standards. California Chrome’s storybook rags-to-riches tale is sure to delight horse racing fans for years to come.

Mike Inamine, Executive Director of the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency said, “This summer we continue construction of the longest, ongoing levee slurry wall in the country, putting hundreds of people to work and minimizing flood risks for the 95,000 residents of the Sutter-Butte Basin. Today’s action in the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee brings us one step closer towards securing full federal approval and we are grateful to our congressional delegation for being strong champions of this project.”

Many breweries currently reuse their spent grain to feed cattle, sometimes for beef used at restaurants on premises. The FDA proposed a regulation that would have pointlessly made this practice prohibitively expensive, thus increasing food waste and cutting into brewery profits. Following a letter from Garamendi and LaMalfa, the FDA announced that they would not pursue the regulation. This is a victory for sustainable agricultural practices and California’s craft breweries.

“If enacted into law, this extreme Tea Party-inspired budget would wreck havoc on my district and communities across America,” said Congressman Garamendi. “Construction on levees in flood prone Sacramento Valley communities would be delayed. College students would shoulder even more debt. Agricultural researchers at UC Davis would see their groundbreaking work halted. Seniors in Rio Vista would see their health costs skyrocket. Struggling families in my district would see food, housing, and health care taken away from them.”
