Garamendi visited with veterans and veteran support organizations at the North Bay Stand Down for lower income and homeless veterans in Dixon. Garamendi’s veteran casework staff were also on hand to help veterans who are having ongoing issues with the Veterans Administration and other federal agencies. This year alone, his office has secured more than $3.5 million in earned benefits for veterans facing unacceptable bureaucratic delays.

“‘Marysville Forward’ is a historic investment in our community’s future. By refurbishing downtown with new roads, sidewalks, trees, crosswalks, and more, the project will attract customers to local businesses and lay the foundation for economic growth. Drivers traveling along Highways 20 and 70 will experience a smoother and safer ride. This project also put more than 200 people and a dozen companies to work in our area, providing a boost to the local economy. Thank you to everyone who helped make this day a reality.”

The hearing focused attention on H.R. 5270, the bipartisan Growing American Shipping Act or GAS Act, which would promote the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on U.S.-flag vessels. Witnesses at the hearing voiced support for the legislation and efforts to increase the use of U.S. flag ships in the foreign trade.

“California’s woefully inadequate water infrastructure definitely needs more federal investment, but the twin tunnels are a boondoggle and poor use of taxpayer dollars. Instead of reigniting the California water war, let’s build consensus and invest in the priorities that create more reliable water for the entire state. We can increase supply without destroying the Delta or undermining water rights.”

The GROW AMERICA Act makes critical investments to improve our infrastructure and create good jobs. Mark Zandi, who served as Republican Senator John McCain’s economist, calculated that every dollar invested into our nation’s transportation infrastructure adds $1.59 to our economy.

Walnut Grove, CA – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-03), former California State Senate Majority Leader and Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, released the following statement on the State Legislature’s passage of a water bond, which is being designated as Proposition 1 on the November ballot:
“We are in the midst of a drought and will certainly face many more in the years ahead. It took extensive work from Governor Brown and his staff and bipartisan cooperation in the legislature to move us forward.
