Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, supported passage of the "Preventing Disaster Revictimization Act" (H.R.5953), which unanimously passed out of the Committee. Garamendi is a cosponsor of the bipartisan legislation. This bill would prevent the federal government from raiding a wildfire victim settlement fund that allows victims of the California wildfires and other disasters to seek reimbursement from natural disasters.

Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, hosted two Veteran Advisory meetings in Marysville and Vacaville to deliver an update on his work to support veterans, and to hear from the community about the issues impacting local veterans. Garamendi was joined by Max Richtman, President of the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, to address issues for older veterans, such as their health, retirement security, and the high cost of prescription drugs.

Yuba County, CA—Today Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), Chairman of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness, hosted a Congressional Delegation comprised of other key members of the House Armed Services Committee to tour Beale Air Force Base in Yuba County. Garamendi then met with the Yuba-Sutter Habitat for Humanity to discuss their ongoing projects and how he can support their work through his efforts in Congress.


February 6, 2020

Washington, DC – Today, Rep. Garamendi voted in favor of H. Res. 826, a resolution expressing disapproval of the Trump Administration's harmful actions toward Medicaid. Last week, the Trump Administration unveiled its illegal Medicaid block grant plan, inviting states to cap and slash Medicaid. The plan would essentially allow states to receive a waiver to block grant their Medicaid programs for certain low-income Medicaid recipients.

Dixon & Yuba City, CA—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) hosted a Senior Service Roundtable and Manufacturing Advisory Meeting in his district to deliver an update on the state of affairs in Washington and engage with his constituents on a wide array of topics. In Dixon, Garamendi convened elected officials and members of his Manufacturing Advisory Committee at Altec's facility to discuss the local manufacturing sector.

January 30, 2020

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) applauded House passage of his legislation, H.R. 550, which was amended to include Representative Barbara Lee's (D-CA) legislation to repeal the 2002 Iraq War Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) and Representative Ro Khanna's (D-CA) legislation to prohibit the use of military force against Iran without an AUMF. The legislation passed by a vote of 236-166.

Washington, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA), a senior member of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, applauded the House Democratic Caucus' introduction of its "Moving Forward" infrastructure plan to create 10 million new jobs in America by investing $760 billion over five years.
