Vendors in attendance provided information and advice on health care, veterans services, senior services, help for lower income families, educational opportunities, job placement, and more.

The Resolution condemns this murderous attack, honors the memory of its victims, offers heartfelt condolences to those directly impacted, applauds the bravery of first responders, condemns intolerance, and calls for continued vigilance against violence.

“This legislation is long overdue. The VA’s excessive wait times and reports of fraudulent appointment practices for medical care are a national disgrace, and this bill is Congress’ most substantive action yet to immediately solve this problem,” Congressman Garamendi said.

"America is the land of second chances. When forces beyond our control knock us down, we get back up again. This bipartisan job training bill will help American workers sharpen their skills to land secure middle-class employment at the businesses that need their skills,” said Congressman Garamendi.

In today’s letter, the members wrote, “Should spills or explosions occur, as we have seen over the last year, the consequences could be disastrous, costing lives, damaging property, and harming the environment. While we are pleased with the many actions that DOT has taken thus far and we believe that your agency is making steady progress, we must still emphasize the utmost importance of demonstrated compliance with federal regulations by the railroad and petroleum industries. We believe there must be accountability and comprehensive oversight, as well as adherence to the most stringent of standards.”

While Garamendi fought to create American jobs and boost economic growth, the Appropriations bill itself would take this nation in the opposite direction. The legislation fails to address the need to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and to recover from our nation’s housing crisis. For that reason, Garamendi voted against it.
