As a senior member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Garamendi has for the past six years been selected to reconcile differences between the House and Senate versions of the annual defense authorization bill during conference negotiations. This has given him a significant voice in helping to set military policy, advocate for our service members, and protect the vital missions at Travis and Beale Air Force Bases.

DAVIS, CA— Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) announced the winners of this year's Congressional High School Art Competition at a ceremony at UC Davis.

The grand prize winner was Meli Engleheart of Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts with her piece, "A Lovely Smile." Meli's work will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for a year in a gallery featuring winners from Congressional Districts throughout the country.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senators Alex Padilla and Dianne Feinstein (both D-Calif.) announced the introduction of legislation to expand the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument to include approximately 3,925 acres of adjacent Bureau of Land Management-administered public lands in Lake County, California. It would also require the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service to improve tribal engagement and co-management of the National Monument, including for historic preservation, archaeological sites, and forest health.
