"Today, the House of Representatives stood unified that we will not rush into a third Gulf War," Congressman Garamendi said, "The Constitution gives Congress the right and obligation to give advice and consent before waging war. I have serious doubts about waging any military campaign in Iraq, and clearly I am not alone."
"Before we ever consider sending our brave men and women in uniform back into the Iraq powder keg, we owe it to our servicemembers and to the American people to at least have a frank and public debate in the Halls of Congress," Armed Services Committee Member Garamendi said.
"These events are always bittersweet. My staff and I are happy to do all we can to help people get a boost in their job search, but it's disheartening to know just how great the demand is for these opportunities. I've already given my staff instructions to begin planning the next one."
“Farmers in my district have been hit hard by horrific drought conditions, and they’re not alone. This is a problem felt throughout California and in ten other states. My amendment would have kept farms operating through the immediate implementation of water conservation systems," Garamendi said.

While Garamendi fought to create American jobs and boost economic growth, the Appropriations bill itself would take this nation in the opposite direction. The legislation fails to address the need to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and to recover from our nation’s housing crisis. For that reason, Garamendi voted against it.

"With these federal funds, the Marysville Fire Department will purchase a water tender that will strengthen their ability to protect residents of the area from harm. I commend the Department for their initiative and skill in applying for this federal grant. Garamendi led a letter to the Agriculture Secretary urging him to designate the Bay-Delta watershed as a critical conservation area. This will make private companies, agriculture groups, universities, non-profit organizations, local and tribal governments and others eligible for conservation funding.
