Misguided bill would defund law enforcement and reduce trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.

“Our nation values freedom from fear. However, far too many people in communities across America, including Sikhs, are the targets of violence, bullying, and bigotry. By expanding the tracking of hate crimes, the Department of Justice, FBI, and civil rights groups can better understand and more effectively combat this hate. We must reaffirm our shared belief that every American deserves the opportunity to live out the American Dream," said Garamendi.

"On issues as global as wasteful spending in our nuclear weapons program to as local as supporting a thriving arts scene, Davis is driven to make things better," Garamendi said.

The event was designed to invite more constituents to have one-on-one interactions with Congressman Garamendi, to learn what services are available at the district office, and to make constituent caseworkers available to constituents who need assistance with a federal agency.

“I support comprehensive immigration reform that keeps families together, meets the needs of agriculture, higher education, and the tech sector, secures our borders, stands up for DREAMers, cracks down on abusive labor conditions, and offers a pathway to earned citizenship for otherwise law-abiding immigrants already contributing to our economy."

“I still believe that there is nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed by what is right with America, and I will do all I can to work with the President and my colleagues to build the middle class,” he said.
