WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Davis, Fairfield, Yuba City), former Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior under President Bill Clinton, reintroduced the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta National Heritage Area Act (H.R.357), with Reps. Jerry McNerney (D-CA09), Mark DeSaulnier (D-CA11), Mike Thompson (D-CA05), and Doris O. Matsui (D-CA06), as original cosponsors.
DENVER — President Donald Trump has ordered the government to streamline regulations that he says are hindering work on four major water projects in the western United States and specifically targeted the Central Valley Project.
Trump signed a memorandum Friday aimed at the Central Valley Project and the California State Water Project in California, the Klamath Irrigation Project in Oregon and the federal Columbia River system in the Pacific Northwest.
Ask any environmental policy expert and they'll tell you that water rights, water supply and water quality initiatives are complicated and contentious issues in California.
Those issues are about to get a whole lot more complicated.

Thompson and Garamendi Announce Disaster Loans Now Available for Nonprofits in Lake County
Assistance available through SBA as part of disaster declaration
Washington – Today Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-05) and Rep. John Garamendi (CA-03) announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has granted Public Assistance for Lake County for the Ranch and River Fires, commonly known as the Mendocino Complex fires. This declaration allows federal funds to be available to state and local governments provide support and assistance during the recovery process for the Mendocino Complex fires, which began on July 27, 2018 and burned across the region.

Washington, D.C. – In their ongoing work to improve access to safe and reliable water, Congressmen Jim Costa (D-CA-16), Jeff Denham (R-CA-10), John Garamendi (D-CA-3), and Tom McClintock (R-CA-4) introduced H.R 5726, the Non-Federal Reservoir Operations Improvement Act, in the House of Representatives today. If enacted, the bipartisan legislation would resolve a technicality that impedes structural and operational improvements of water reservoirs and prevents reservoirs from functioning as efficiently as possible.
