“The Sacramento region is at grave risk of a flood,” said Congressman John Garamendi. “We can pay now to prevent a disaster from occurring or we can pay substantially more once the destruction has come to our homes and businesses.”

Garamendi participates in Stand Down for homeless veterans, convenes veterans advisory committee, and works on job opportunities for veterans.

"Placing the KC-46A at Travis would save the Pentagon money and more closely unite related Air Force priorities. Travis Air Force Base, the 'Gateway to the Pacific,' has the proven ability to support multiple missions," Congressman Garamendi said. "Basing the KC-46A mission at Travis makes sense for the Air Force, and would be a great boon for Solano County's economy."

"This bill gives more teeth to USERRA and SCRA, which ultimately provides veterans with additional essential protections they so justly deserve, and have earned, often on the battlefield," said the American Legion's National Commander Fang A. Wong.

"Instead of asking more from middle class families, who are struggling to make ends meet, we need everyone to pay their fair share," said Congressman Garamendi. "I call on my colleagues to join us to create a level playing field, where everyone who plays by the rules can live out their dreams."

"When families are struggling here at home, we shouldn't spend money on things we don't need, and we do not need to be further padding the budget for the Afghanistan war," said Garamendi.

"I’ve always seen transit as an interconnected statewide priority. We should be working together to develop transit solutions helping all California communities," Congressman Garamendi said. "At a minimum, we should have the transit needs of the communities we represent in mind. I don’t understand why Congressman Jeff Denham is leading the fight to imperil transit priorities in his district and mine."

"This compromise was essential. If we didn’t act, 7.4 million students would have effectively seen a $1,000 tax increase every year they took out Stafford Loans," said Congressman Garamendi. "As someone who voted against every tuition increase as a UC Regent and CSU Trustee, college affordability has always been a top priority for me. I’m glad this time Congress was able to put partisanship aside to help our students."

"This issue is critical to the livelihoods of farmers in my region. I will continue to advocate on their behalf, so that they can continue to Make It In America and grow it in America."
