WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) welcomed Ms. Julia Ku, the winner of the 2012 Congressional Art Competition for California’s 10th Congressional District, to Washington D.C.

Julia, who will be a senior next year at Dougherty Valley High School in San Ramon, attended an awards ceremony today in celebration of her drawing "Hamster In My Hand," which will hang in our nation's Capitol building for an entire year.

"I offer my highest congratulations to Julia for her warm and skilled artwork," said Congressman Garamendi. "She is a charming young lady and I know she'll go far."

This year the judging panel for the competition featured Ms. Carmen Slack, Ms. Bonnie Weidel, and Mr. David Auerbach, local artists who represent the Solano County Arts Council.  Information and pictures of the artwork that placed in this year's competition are included below.
