Former Yuba County Supervisors Griego and Nicoletti Join Congressman Garamendi's Team

July 28, 2017

YUBA CITY, CA – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Yuba, Sutter, Glenn, Colusa, Yolo, Sacramento, Lake, and Solano Counties) announced that two former Yuba County Supervisors, Mary Jane Griego and John Nicoletti, are joining his team effective August 1, 2017. Their primary portfolio will be to represent the Congressman’s office in Yuba, Sutter, Colusa, and Glenn counties, with a special focus on regional agriculture, water, veterans, Beale Air Force Base, transportation, public health, and workforce development issues. Federal legislation related to these subject areas will remain the responsibility of his Washington, DC staff.

“Mary Jane Griego and John Nicoletti served the people of Yuba County with distinction as Supervisors. They served on numerous regional and state boards and understand the opportunities and challenges of the northern tier of the 3rd Congressional District intimately,” Congressman Garamendi said. “Like Jack Batchelor, who transitioned from Dixon Mayor to serve in my Solano County office, I know they will use their energy and decades of knowledge and experience to serve the people of Colusa, Glenn, Sutter, and Yuba counties. Mary Jane and John will be a valuable addition to our team as we work to address the many concerns facing this region and continue to build on the opportunities in the area.”

“When I served as a County Supervisor, I was always impressed with Congressman Garamendi’s dedication to his constituents and deep understanding of our region’s concerns, from flood control to the health and vitality of Sacramento Valley farmlands. He is very detail-oriented, and we spent hours together digging into the intricacies and nuances that would help him bring people together locally and shape better policies in Washington,” Mary Jane Griego said. “To be able to continue this work is a tremendous honor.”

“Congressman Garamendi and I always agreed that public service is a solemn duty. Our bosses are our constituents. Our purpose is to make life better for them. When I served as County Supervisor, we always found common ground on agriculture and water policy—and there is no better advocate for Northern California’s agricultural sector than John Garamendi,” John Nicoletti said. “We are all Americans, and it is my goal to break down barriers in our community. When we work together, we can achieve incredible results for the people of the 3rd Congressional District. I’m grateful for this opportunity.”
