Congressman Garamendi Honors Nine 3rd District Students Nominated by His Office for Air Force, Military & Navy Service Academies
DAVIS, CA – At a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Theater in Davis, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, recognized the achievements of the nine 3rd District students who secured a nomination to a service academy from his district. The candidates were selected by an independent panel of distinguished veterans and educators after an exhaustive interview and application process.
“These nine incredible young men and women from the 3rd District, still in high school, have determined that their calling is to serve their nation with distinction. It’s a tremendous honor that one of my responsibilities as a Member of Congress is to help them on this journey,” Congressman Garamendi. “Congratulations to Franchetta Nicole Allarey, Cameron Castillo, Juliana Galvan, Stefan Koss, Robert Lewis, Darby Maguire, Omena Mushale, Ionatan Soule, and Tynisha Spencer. I know I speak for my district when I say we are proud of you.”
Every year, the Congressman has the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. The honor of attending a service academy comes with an obligation and commitment to serve in the military for a minimum of five years upon graduation.
