Congressman Garamendi’s Statement on the Tragic Shooting in Arizona

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Walnut Creek, CA) today issued the following statement after the tragic shooting at a public event hosted by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, AZ:

"I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic shooting in Tucson. My thoughts and prayers are with all the victims and of this senseless shooting and their familymembers and friends.

"This tragedy happened at a public event hosted by a colleague of mine, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. She was doing exactly what the people of her district asked her to do: listening to their concerns and being responsive to their needs.

"We don’t know all the answers yet, but we do know that senseless violence has no place in our country. We must come together as a Congress and as a nation united as Americans."
