FAIRFIELD, CA – Congressmen John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement regarding the strategic review released by the Department of Defense:

“I welcome today's announcement of a comprehensive national security strategy that turns the page and incorporates all aspects of our national power, including diplomacy, economic strength, and fiscal responsibility.

“The defense strategic review wisely notes the importance of force mobility, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR), and cybersecurity in our evolving 21st century global environment. This is good news for residents of Solano, Yuba, and Butte counties as the functions of Travis and Beale Air Force Bases align with the new strategic priorities. The Pentagon's vision also continues a valuable role for the University of California and the national labs in Livermore.

“My staff and I will carefully review the President's budget to see how it will impact our national security, economic security, and our Northern California communities. I will continue to advocate for the smart investments that strengthen a mobile and innovative military adaptable to our nation's emerging challenges and opportunities.”
