Garamendi, Thompson Present Check to Woodland for Flood Control

$3 Million for Lower Cache Creek Flood Risk Management Project
WOODLAND, CA—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA08) and Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA04) presented a $3,000,000 check to the City of Woodland to support planning, engineering, and design for the Lower Cache Creek Flood Risk Management Project. The funding was made possible through a government funding package for Fiscal Year 2023.
"Sadly, this month's winter storms have been a somber reminder of the need for flood control throughout our state," Garamendi said. "That's why I was pleased to work with Congressman Thompson to secure this much-needed federal support for the Lower Cache Creek Flood Risk Management Project. This project will provide a 200-year level of flood protection to residents of the City of Woodland and save property and lives. I am pleased that this critically important project is one major step closer to becoming a reality."
"The Sacramento Valley is one of the most flood-prone areas in the country," said Thompson. "Rep. Garamendi and I worked to secure $2.9 million in the government funding bill for the Lower Cache Creek Flood Risk Reduction Project to help mitigate the risk of floods in Woodland. This funding will provide a 200-year level of flood protection, helping to meet the state's flood protection requirements for urban areas."
