Garamendi, Thompson Present Check to Vacaville for Transportation Improvements

$4 Million in new Federal Support for I-505/Vaca Valley Parkway Improvements
VACAVILLE, CA—Today Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA08) and Congressman Mike Thompson (D-CA04) presented a $4,000,000 check to the City of Vacaville to make improvements along the Vaca Valley Parkway corridor from west of the East Monte Vista Avenue/Crocker Drive intersection to east of the northbound on/off ramps with I-505. The funding was made possible through a government funding package for Fiscal Year 2023.
"I was pleased to help secure $4 million to support improvements along Vaca Valley Parkway. This funding will make the area more accessible to all forms of transportation, improve traffic flow, and help spur new development along the region that can stimulate the Solano County economy. Congressman Thompson and I were pleased to present a check for the funding to Vacaville Mayor, John Carli, and we thank everyone at the local level for providing us with the partnership and information that helped make today possible," Garamendi said.
"I-505 is a vital thoroughfare for freight and transit in our community, and by constructing a new route for pedestrians, we can stimulate biotech and our local economy while providing new transportation opportunities," said Thompson. "It was great to be in Vacaville with Rep. John Garamendi today to present a $4 million check we secured in the government funding bill to the City of Vacaville for the Vaca Valley Corridor Multi Modal Improvement Project. This funding will eliminate the need for costly bridge widening and seismic retrofitting while stimulating 6 million square feet of new business development, pave the way for 1250 new homes, and create 10,000+ new jobs."
This project will benefit the community by replacing two signals and a stop-controlled intersection with the construction of three, coordinated roundabouts. It will also help build new pedestrian and bicycle access, connect existing accessible pathways on both sides of I-505 via sidewalk improvements, provide a continuous route for non-motorized travelers, and connect the improvements at the western East Monte Vista/Crocker Drive intersection and eastern I-505 northbound ramp intersection with Vaca Valley Parkway. These upgrades will improve traffic flow and increase accessibility for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
