SOLANO COUNTY, CA – Today, U.S. Representative John Garamendi (D-CA-08) hosted a District Work Day where he met with manufacturing and labor representatives. He began his day with a tour of Mango Materials, a women-led biomanufacturer aiming to reduce methane emissions and plastic pollution. He then met with the Construction Trades Workforce Initiative (CTWI), a workforce development nonprofit partner of the Alameda, Contra Costa, and Napa-Solano Building and Constructions Trades Council.

“I am grateful to Mango Materials for hosting me at their site to discuss their technology and vision of a clean energy economy,” said Garamendi. “California has always been at the forefront of the fight against climate change, and Mango Materials is no exception. As the United States rebuilds its once robust manufacturing sector, Mango Materials is a prime example of advanced manufacturing that will define the future, and it exists right here along California’s Eighth District’s Interstate 80 biomanufacturing research corridor.”

“The Construction Trades Workforce Initiative has been a critical partner in workforce development in creating a pipeline for underserved communities to access high-road union construction careers,” said Garamendi. “They are a model organization that has shown commitment to building training programs in high schools across the East Bay Area, specifically in Richmond through a partnership with West Contra Costa Unified, to prepare future generations for union construction careers. I look forward to continuing to partner with CTWI to deliver opportunities and results for our communities.”
