Congressman John Garamendi Applauds Passage of Bipartisan Farm Bill

December 12, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City), who represents a district with an annual farm gate value of over $4.4 billion, applauded passage today of a bipartisan farm bill that supports California’s rural communities, farmers, and agricultural research while avoiding cuts to nutrition assistance (SNAP) for needy families and low-income women with newborn children (WIC).

“The Trump trade war is putting massive strain on our agricultural communities, and this bipartisan bill gives our farmers much-needed support to help weather the storm the trade war has created,” said Garamendi. The bill also provides support for rural infrastructure, including $350 million per year for broadband deployment, as well as funding to strengthen rural hospitals and fight the opioid epidemic.”
