Congressman Garamendi’s Statement on Committee Passage of Fiscal Year 2019 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill

June 6, 2018
Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), who represents part of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, released the following statement in response to the Appropriations Committee’s passage of the Fiscal Year 2019 Interior and Environment Appropriations Bill:

“If you’re looking for a group of people who can take a horrible bill and make it even worse, look no further than the Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee. Fresh off of introducing a bill that included disastrous language banning judicial review of the twin tunnels boondoggle, they decided to take it a step further and approve an amendment banning state or federal judicial review of additional California water projects. You can bet that I will offer an amendment to strip these two provisions out of the bill when it comes to the floor of the House of Representatives.”
