Congressman Garamendi Hosts Mobility Air Force Caucus Breakfast with Maj. Gen. Sharpy, Vice-Commander of Air Mobility Command
WASHINGTON, DC- Yesterday, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City), the Co-Chair of the Mobility Air Forces Caucus in the House of Representatives, hosted a Congressional breakfast yesterday along with fellow Co-Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA). Maj. Gen. Thomas Sharpy, Vice Commander of Air Mobility Command, was the keynote speaker. The breakfast brought Air Mobility personnel and Members of Congress together to promote the vital Air Mobility mission of the United States Air Force.
“Our ability to project both military power and emergency relief anywhere in the world is entirely dependent on the strength of our Air Mobility Command to move cargo and personnel across the globe at a moment’s notice,” said Garamendi. “I thank my Co-Chair McMorris Rodgers of Washington and Major General Sharpy for hosting this important event to promote Air Mobility Command in the United States Congress, and I’ll never pass up an opportunity to express my pride at representing the airmen at Travis Air Force Base.”
Garamendi noted in his remarks that June 24 marked the 70th anniversary of the Berlin Airlift. Now, 70 years later, America still depends on air mobility and the planes and personnel at Travis to sustain our warfighters.
