National Defense Authorization Act

As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Garamendi is instrumental in crafting the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), an annual bill that sets the policy for our nation's armed forces. Garamendi ensures that NDAA gives our men and women in uniform the means to protect our nation and advances America's interests around the world. Garamendi also works hard to make sure our troops are paid what they deserve, and that our strategies in combat zones serve our national interests and the sacrifices we ask our servicemembers to make for our country.

Garamendi is also dedicated to ensuring that the annual legislation addresses the needs at Travis AFB and Beale AFB, and adequately prioritizes our nation's ISR and global mobility needs. He also works to oppose the dangerous and expensive recapitalization of our nation's nuclear arsenal.

Every year, the House of Representatives and the Senate each pass versions of the NDAA that differ from each other. The legislation must then go to a conference committee to hash out these differences and pass a final bill. Garamendi is honored to have been named a House conferee for the NDAA four years in a row.
