WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA08) issued the following statement on the retirement of his colleague and friend Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano (D-CA-31) at the end of the 118th Congress.

“Throughout her quarter century of public service to Los Angeles County and California in the U.S. House of Representatives, the State Assembly, and local government, Congresswoman Napolitano has been a tireless advocate, beloved colleague, and constant friend. Her example should be an inspiration for the next generation of American women and Latino leaders that fighting the good fight is always worth it.

While her legislative accomplishments are too numerous to name, I can say unequivocally that nobody during my 14 years in the U.S. House of Representatives has done more to tackle California’s water supply challenges than Congresswoman Napolitano. Her commitment to making her community and the world a better place will continue even after she leaves Congress at the end of next year.”

Every Californian should be grateful to have true public servants and, even more importantly, wonderful people like Congresswoman Napolitano working on their behalf. I know I am.” said Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA08).
