VALLEJO, CA — Congressman John Garamendi (CA-08), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, presented a $1,092,000 check to Vallejo Flood & Wastewater to rehabilitate the outdated sewer system on Mare Island at recent press conference with local leaders including Solano County Supervisor Monica Brown, Solano County Supervisor Cassandra James, Vallejo Mayor Andrea Sorce, Vallejo Vice Mayor JR Matulac, Vallejo Councilmember Tonia Lediju, Vallejo Councilmember Helen Marie Gordon, Vallejo Councilmember Charles Palmaries.
The $1,092,000 is meant to rehabilitate the outdated sewer system on Mare Island and significantly reduce the risk of raw sewage reaching the San Francisco Bay, fulfilling the federal and state missions to restore the Bay.
This funding is part of over $16 million that Congressman Garamendi secured for the district. These federal investments will strengthen critical infrastructure, improve public safety, and support communities throughout Solano and Contra Costa Counties.

Garamendi. “It may not be glamorous, but the health and safety of our cities depend on the functionality of our wastewater and sewer systems.
