WASHINGTON, DC – Following the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals’ unanimous ruling on President Donald Trump’s poorly drafted executive order banning travel from seven predominately Muslim countries, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee and a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, issued the following statement:

“The 9th Circuit made the right decision today. President Trump’s travel ban is not just shortsighted, destructive, and counterproductive—it is also likely illegal. I believe it is appropriate for the injunction to stay in place until the lawsuits are adjudicated. I am heartened by today’s ruling, and I urge the Trump administration to respect the judiciary and our long-established legal processes.”
