Garamendi's speech focused on America's pivotal opportunity to create thousands of American jobs by revitalizing America's shipbuilding industry.
Garamendi hosted a press conference in Davis to urge the implementation of stronger safety standards for hazardous material transported by rail, especially Bakken crude oil.
"From land navigation on cell phones to a timing source for our national infrastructure, we need a reliable backup system to GPS," Garamendi said.
Today, we came together, not as Democrats or Republicans but as Americans, to uphold our obligation to society’s most vulnerable citizens, including our seniors, children in lower-income families, and Americans who live in rural underserved communities.
Equal pay for equal work should be the law of the land.
“Our nation values freedom from fear. However, far too many people in communities across America, including Sikhs, are the targets of violence, bullying, and bigotry. By expanding the tracking of hate crimes, the Department of Justice, FBI, and civil rights groups can better understand and more effectively combat this hate. We must reaffirm our shared belief that every American deserves the opportunity to live out the American Dream," said Garamendi.
