Congress Begins its 113th Session

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA) was sworn in as the Representative for California’s newly drawn 3rd Congressional District during the first day of session in the new 113rd Congress. The Northern California district includes all or parts of Colusa, Glenn, Lake, Sacramento, Solano, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba counties (map linked here).

“It is a great honor to represent Northern California in the United States Congress,” said Garamendi. “My title is ‘Representative’ and that’s exactly what I will be. I am here to listen and to lend my voice in service of the people of the 3rd District. Our region contributes mightily to the well being of our country, playing a vital role in national security, educational achievement, clean energy, food production, and much more. I’ll work every day to give us the representation we need and deserve.”

“It is with renewed optimism that I begin this term of Congress. I stand ready to work with Democrats and Republicans to find common ground, so that we can meet the great challenges of our day.”
