Congressman Garamendi’s Statement on President Trump’s Revealing of Highly Sensitive Classified Information to Senior Level Russian Officials

DAVIS, CA – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, Davis, Yuba City, CA), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, today issued the following statement after the Washington Post reported that President Donald Trump revealed highly sensitive intelligence to senior level Russian officials:

“If these allegations are true, I'm astonished that even Donald Trump could be this careless. When intelligence is considered so sensitive that it can't be shared with our closest allies, it certainly shouldn't be shared with Russia. If our nation's ability to protect sensitive intelligence is compromised by the commander-in-chief, our partners and sources will be less willing to divulge crucial information that could keep us safe. The Administration must give Congress a full explanation.”
