Congressman Garamendi Congratulates Travis Air Force Base on Installation Excellence Award

October 30, 2015

WALNUT GROVE, CA – Congressman John Garamendi (D-Fairfield, CA), a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, today congratulated Travis Air Force Base after Air Mobility Command awarded the base it’s Commander-in-Chief’s Installation Excellence Award (CINC IEA). The base will now compete against bases from other commands in the Air Force.

The award recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain U.S. military installations. It’s presented annually to one installation in each branch of service and includes a $1 million incentive award to invest in quality-of-life projects.

“I know I speak for the broader Solano County community when I say I’m proud of the men and women who help make Travis Air Force Base such a standout installation,” Congressman Garamendi said. “It’s the Gateway to the Pacific, and for several years running, it’s been the gem of the Air Mobility Command. May Travis soar in the Commander-in-Chief’s Installation Excellence Award competition as it now competes at the next level to become recognized as the best base in the entire Air Force.”

This is the second time in three years Travis was selected as AMC's nominee for the award. The base won second place in the 2014 CINC IEA competition at the Air Force-level.
