Jesse Ortiz, Former Yolo County Superintendent of Schools, and Lois Cross, Former Executive at Sutter Health, Join Rep. Garamendi’s Staff as Senior District Representatives
California's 3rd Congressional District—Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA) announced the hiring of Jesse Ortiz, the former Yolo County Superintendent of Schools, and Lois Cross, a former executive at Sutter Health, as Senior District Representatives in his district offices.
"I'm pleased to announce that Lois Cross and Jesse Ortiz will be joining my district staff," Garamendi said. "I've had the privilege of working with both Jesse and Lois throughout my time in Congress. They are both respected leaders in their community who bring a wealth of wisdom and extensive experience to the table. I have always valued their insight and knowledge when I've met with them and other local leaders to discuss the needs and interests of our communities. They are both prepared and excited to continue serving their communities as Senior District Representatives in my office, and I am honored to welcome them aboard," Garamendi concluded.
Background:

Jesse Ortiz: Jesse Ortiz brings his lifelong commitment to public education to Rep. Garamendi's office. Jesse has served as a professor, counselor, and Dean of Students in community college districts throughout the region during his three decades of experience as an educator. This experience culminated most recently when he served as the Yolo County Superintendent of Schools, where he enhanced support services to five school districts representing over 30,000 public school students and collaborated with fifty-seven other county school superintendents on public school advocacy. Jesse is also a United States Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam Era and volunteers his time to many charitable causes throughout his community.

Lois Cross: Lois Cross holds Masters and Bachelors degrees in nursing and has dedicated her life to supporting public health. Most recently, Lois has served in several leadership roles for Sutter Health. She has worked in nearly every facet of our regional health care system throughout her career, and her service to her community led her to become one of Rep. Garamendi's 2020 Women of the Year. Lois has overseen operations for multiple care units in health care facilities throughout Rep. Garamendi's district and developed partnerships between several facilities to bolster the quality of care for local residents. Her efforts have earned her the Dixon Citizen of the Year and the Yolo County Red Cross Heroes awards.
