Garamendi Finalizes $637,195 For Solano County 911 Dispatch in Second Bill to Prevent Government Shutdown
WASHINGTON, DC— Today, U.S. Representative John Garamendi (D-CA08) voted to finalize $637,195 in community project funding to build Solano County’s new Emergency Operations Center in California’s 8th Congressional District. Garamendi secured this Congressionally directed funding to complete architectural and engineering design plans for Solano County to construct a new, consolidated facility for emergency operations and 911 dispatch, relocating the current facility from a flood zone.
Garamendi and 285 other members of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass this second and final federal government funding bill (H.Res.1102) for 2024, preventing a shutdown of the U.S. Departments of Defense, Treasury, Homeland Security, Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and State. Earlier this month, Garamendi voted, the House passed, and President Biden signed a similar law funding the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Commerce, Justice, Energy, the Interior, Transportation, and Housing and Urban Development, preventing a partial government shutdown. With Garamendi’s vote and the President’s signature, the entire federal government and all public services are now funded through the end of the federal fiscal year on September 30, 2024.
“I am thrilled to secure $637,195 in community project funding to help build Solano County’s new emergency operations center and 911 dispatch. This federal investment will ensure timely emergency services like EMTs and 911 dispatch for all Solano County residents. I continue working in Congress to make our community healthier, safer, and stronger,” said Garamendi.
This new federal investment follows the $13 million for local projects across Solano and Contra Costa Counties Garamendi included in the first government funding law for 2024 earlier in March.
House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to tackle the climate crisis, and undermine our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and move America forward. Taken together, the funding for California’s 8th Congressional District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to protect public safety and provide essential government services like healthcare and early childhood education for low-income residents.
This final 2024 federal government funding bill is expected to be passed by the Senate by the weekend and signed into law by President Biden shortly thereafter. A detailed summary is available here.
