WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman John Garamendi (CA-08), U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Chris Coons (D-De.), and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Ranking Member of the Senate Finance Committee, and Representatives Brad Sherman (D-Calif.), Don Beyer (D-Va.), Judy Chu (D-Calif.), Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), and Mark Pocan (D-Wisc.) joined over 150 lawmakers in introducing the Direct File Act, new legislation that would reverse the Trump administration’s decision to end the highly successful Direct File program — which allowed taxpayers to file their taxes online, for free, and directly with the government — and make the program permanent.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman John Garamendi (CA-08) released new data showing how Donald Trump’s economic agenda and Republicans in Congress are increasing everyday costs for families in Solano and Contra Costa Counties, including higher prices for groceries, health care, housing, and other basic needs. The report was prepared using data compiled by the House Budget Committee.

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-08), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today issued the following statement after the Trump administration reinstated the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Railroad Safety Advisory Committee (RSAC). In August, DOT gutted over a dozen federal worker safety committees, including RSAC.

VALLEJO, CA — Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-08), Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee’s Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee led a letter demanding that the Coast Guard explain why the administration chose to award a contract to a higher bidder rather than Mare Island Dry Dock.

Greg Landsman (OH-01), demanded that the Trump Administration immediately reverse course on actions that jeopardize safety, environmental health, and labor protections for energy workers and the communities where they live.
